Writing instructions.

Because the Bureaudonald. is strongly based on typography, there are specific ways of writing. Whether it is only the name, initials, or sub-branches, always follow these instructions.

Not in every situation, it will be possible to use the defined typography and colors. Like online platforms, you will only have the bio (and profile image) to show the brand. Or in written documents, like Word or Google Docs, or emails. That’s way too closely follow the writing instructions

Bureaudonald. — Bd.

There is no space between the two words. They are connected to each other. The name is always followed by a dot.

Bureaudonald.

Or you can use the first and last letter together (which is also the first letter of the name “donald”).

Bd.

Always use a capital B and a lowercase d.

When using the short or long version?
The general rule you can keep in mind: Use the long version in written copy (for instance in a bio) and use the short version in visuals (like a profile image).
Note: by using only Bd. in visuals you can use bigger sizes, to avoid too small and too delicate typography.

Writing copy.

When writing copy, follow these instructions.

Always end a sentence with a dot.

This goes for normal text, but also for headers.
However, there are some exceptions.

  • When Bureaudonald. or Bd. is in the title do not add an extra dot. Bureaudonald. Radio — don’t: Bureaudonald. Radio.
  • Don’t add dots at the end of navigation titles (see navigation of this site). Logo — don’t: Logo.
  • Don’t add dots at the end of (project-)names, brands and titles. VetteLetters — don’t: VetteLetters.
  • When using text in visuals in an illustrative manner you are free to not add a dot.
  • Never use hyphens in text, only in body copy (but try to avoid them).

Writing examples.

Writing the tagline.

The tagline is Office for Independent Projects. The tagline has the same size and line-height as the name Bureaudonald. and is directly added under it.

Don’t use hyphens.

Don’t use any hyphens in headers. Hyphens are only allowed in body copy.
To avoid hyphens rewrite the header. Or use a smaller text size for all the text.

Writing Sub Brands.

Bureaudonald. often uses Sub Brands for small projects. Like the Bureaudonald playlist on Spotify Bureaudonald. Radio

In visuals and illustrations, you can use short name Bd. while in written copy you can use the full name Bureaudonald.

In the Spotify example, the name of the playlist is Bureaudonald. Radio in the playlist visual it says Bd. Radio.
