Abstract, but reconizable.

Next to the typography, an important part of the Bureaudonald. identity is the visual language. The visuals are abstract but recognizable. They have an iconic style, comparable to letter shapes. In this chapter, we will explain how to create the right visual images.

Create visual elements.

Building blocks.

To create visual elements you can use geometric forms. You can use squares, circles, lines, and also typography. See the section Examples.

Modifying shapes

You can modify shapes as long as they stay geometric.

Don’t

Don’t modify forms to undefined shapes.

Examples.

Example: Bd. Radio

This is an example of an abstract, but recognizable visual.
The dot-grid symbolizes the speaker of a transistor radio. It gets its meaning from the text “Bd. Radio”.

Examle: Don’t ❌

This visual is too detailed and it shows exactly what the copy says.
Visuals could be figurative but should be used in an associative way
Besides that, the visual and the typography are out of balance.
